In-house Training

Some churches may choose to run the BTS Foundations training. This sort of session would typically be run by a minister or BTS Rep. Before running a training session, there are a few things you need to do.

Facilitated Group Training

In this format, the training session is delivered by an appointed person within the church who is confident in facilitating the course using material supplied by the CPU.

  • Complete the latest course – Before you can facilitate the course, you must first have completed Foundations Training (2020 ed.) yourself. This means you have either attended a training session, or have completed the online training course.
  • Obtain the training material from CPU – Contact Elissa for this. You must use the CPU-produced PowerPoint presentation along with the workbook.
  • Familiarise yourself with the content. You need to know what you’re talking about and may be asked some tricky questions during the training, so make sure you’ve got a good handle on the content.
  • Ensure you have the necessary facilities to run training. You’ll need a way to play some video and audio. There will be times where attendees will need to get into small groups to discuss, so ensure your space can accommodate that.
  • Print a training workbook for each attendee. Download and print either the Standard PDF or the Bold Text PDF which prints in a bold, easy-to-read font.
  • Make sure all participants sign an attendance register to record that they have completed the training.
  • Send a copy of the attendance register to cpu-admin@pcnsw.org.au to ensure the training is recorded in the compliance list for your church. By sending the attendance register, your church is confirming that the listed individuals actively participated in the training session. You do not need to ask attendees to complete a quiz, but if you do want a copy of the quiz to complete as a group to reinforce the content, contact Elissa for this.

Group Online Training

In this format, the online training videos are shown in a group session at church. This is a good option for churches where there is no one able to facilitate the training course.

  • Ensure you have the necessary facilities to run training. You’ll need a way to play some video and audio. The videos can be accessed in two ways:
      1. You can run the training direct from the website. You need a stable internet connection for this option.
      2. You can order a USB drive containing the videos in mp4. file format from the CPU to play from a computer or other device that can connect to a display.
  • Print a training workbook for each attendee. Download and print either the Standard PDF or the Bold Text PDF which prints in a bold, easy-to-read font.
  • Follow the instructions on the Online Training webpage to work through the training videos.
  • Make sure all participants sign an attendance register to record that they have completed the training. Make sure to write “Online Training” as the Facilitator at the top.
  • Send a copy of the attendance register to cpu-admin@pcnsw.org.au to ensure the training is recorded in the compliance list for your church. By sending the attendance register, your church is confirming that the listed individuals actively participated in the training session. You do not need to ask attendees to complete a quiz. If you would like a copy of the quiz to complete as a group to reinforce the content, contact Elissa for this.
