Get in touch with Rhonda via our Senior Chaplain, Joseph Park - seniorchaplain@jerichoroad.org.au Phone: 0449 903 508
Rhonda serves as a chaplain at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Darlinghurst. She works mostly in the Intensive Care Unit, but also visits the Drug and Alcohol Detox Unit and Palliative Care Unit.
Rhonda has years of experience in hospital chaplaincy, having served in this capacity for over two decades. Reflecting on her years in chaplaincy, Rhonda says the call to this ministry, knowing without a doubt that this was what God wanted her to do, has grown stronger and clearer over the years. “This meant I could relax and trust Him to carry me through the challenges. Just like 1 Thessalonians 5:24 says, ‘The One who calls you is faithful and he will do it’, I know that I am never up to any of this on my own.”
In her years as a chaplain, Rhonda has served at Westmead Children’s Hospital, Allowah Presbyterian Children’s Hospital and Hornsby-Ku-ring-gai Hospital, and after a brief attempt at retirement is back in action, serving the patients, staff and families at St. Vincent’s Hospital in the city.
In NSW, the government provides funding for chaplaincy roles like Rhonda’s, acknowledging the benefits of chaplains in hospitals and correctional centres. However, this only covers part of a chaplain’s wage. To ensure we can sustain our chaplaincy ministry, we need your help.
