Dear friends,
As you know the past few days have seen devastating bush fires across New South Wales, particularly on the mid-North Coast.
For those in affected areas
Please know that we and many other are praying for you. Jericho Road has just sent an email to the contact list we have for congregations in affected areas. If you did not receive this email please let me know at emcclean@pcnsw.org.au
Will you join us in praying for those people affected?
Please pray for those who have lost loved ones, that they would be comforted in their grief. Please pray for those who have lost homes, that they would be supported and cared for through these first days of sorrow and shock, and through the following months as they find somewhere to live and the things that they need for each day. Please pray for those who have been injured, that they would recover well and that God would give those caring for them the wisdom and the skill required to bring them to health. Please pray that God’s people can be there in these situations to show His love.
Please pray for those in the RFS, Fire & Rescue, Ambulance NSW, the SES and other emergency services on the fire grounds. Please pray that God would keep them safe. Please pray for them as they are tired and suffering the effects of heat and smoke, that they would be able to rest. Thank God for them and for the teams of people who support them logistically. Pray for those who have seen terrible and frightening things that they will have people to talk to who can support them and professional care when it is needed. Please pray that God’s people can be there for all these people to show them God’s love.
Please pray for those who are fearful. Pray particularly for the elderly, the children and the vulnerable. Pray for those who have been evacuated and are uncertain of the future. Please pray for the Red Cross teams who are providing mental health first aid in evacuation centres. Pray that God’s people can be there to bring God’s comfort and hope in uncertain times.
Please pray for an easing in conditions on the fire grounds. Please pray for a change in the predicted weather of the next few days, and if the conditions are not eased that God would provide protection for those in danger.
Thank God that He is sovereign, ever-present, knows our needs and hears our prayers.
PS 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
If someone you know would like to continue in prayer with us please ask them to sign up to the Jericho Road Prayer Letter here
